Within the next 10 years their will be approximately 40 million workers retiring in Europe. Only 25 million new workers will replace them. This makes it important for companies to stimulate the collaboration between different generations, so that the knowledge transfer between these generations can easily take place.
In 10 years your office will be used by a different mix of generations, with different needs. Do you know what will be the generation shift in you organization? It might be interesting to consider while designing your new office! Dyadic working
Creativity is an important asset in most companies; it is the way to differentiate and to stay innovative. Research has told us that 70% of innovations occur while working together with someone else. This is the effect of a psychological phenomenon called laddering that occurs while working in pairs. The level of trust here is significantly higher than while working in larger groups. That is the reason why it is important that the office supports not only teamwork and collaboration, but also specifically this so called dyadic working.
Mind Shift The 9/5 mentality is disappearing and that is not an unexpected phenomenon in a 24 hours economy. People do not only work in the office anymore, 29% of business travelers work while on the move. Besides that, u p to 41% of European workers consider a good work/life balance as a professional success. But also within the office workers do not always have a personal workplace, people move around. This development will continue in the future, and will change the function of the office from a working environment to a meeting environment.Mobility seems to get more and more important within the next years, because of technology, traffic jams and the shift in how people work. How does mobility effect your organization and your work process? Does your office support mobility?
