Steelcase Health Named Best Showroom at NeoCon ‘09

Steelcase Health Captures “Best Large Showroom” and “Best of Show” Awards in 14th Annual Competition Sponsored by IIDA and Contract Magazine

Chicago – June 15, 2009 – Steelcase Health, a leading manufacturer of furniture for healthcare environments was awarded Best Large Showroom and Best of Show in the 14th Annual International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Showroom and Booth Design Competition.

The competition seeks to honor originality of design, visual impact, effective use of materials and the outstanding use of space, color, texture and graphics in showrooms and booths at NeoCon 2009. Steelcase Health was presented with the award certificates on June 14 and will be featured in an upcoming issue of Contract magazine.

Steelcase Health is a company with a bold vision to shape and improve the future of healthcare delivery. Steelcase Health focuses on healthcare environments as a whole and how the elements within those environments can help make them more comfortable, efficient and conducive to the healing process.

Steve McCollom, IIDA, Vice President of Communications for IIDA described Steelcase Health’s winning showroom.

“The approach by the Steelcase Health design team was authentic, evidence based design,” said McCollum. “The designers went to great degrees to create spaces that truly simulate what a user would experience—it feels like a healthcare environment, not a showroom or location in The Mart. The Steelcase Health showroom, quite simply, celebrates the integrity of the product and what it does. It works.”

“We’re thrilled to receieve the best showroom awards from IIDA and Contract,” said Michael Love, President of Steelcase Health. “This recognition is a testament to our commitment to and focus on developing innovative, holistic, efficient healthcare environments. Libby Ferin, Tom Condon and their team did an amazing job on this showroom.”

Creative Excellence awards were presented to the following winners:

  • The Award for Showrooms larger than 3,000 sq. ft. was presented to Steelcase Health, designed by Libby Ferin and Tom Condon.
