OSHPD Pre-approval for Two More Products

Grand Rapids, Mich. – January 15, 2008 – Steelcase Health, a manufacturer of furniture for healthcare environments, today announced that it has received pre-approval from the California Office of Statewide Health and Planning Development (OSHPD) for two more of its products — Montage, a modular nursing and reception station and ShareLink 8 by Details, a wall-mounted computing station.

Montage and ShareLink 8 join four other Steelcase Health products that have received pre-approval from OSHPD: Opus, Lab Bench, Universal Storage Bins and Answer.

OSHPD’s objective is to promote healthcare accessibility through leadership in analyzing California’s healthcare infrastructure and assuring the safety of buildings used in providing healthcare, which includes making sure buildings and its furnishings can withstand seismic activity. To that end, utilizing pre-approved products for construction and furnishing of new healthcare facilities is faster and more cost effective.

“Steelcase Health is extremely pleased to receive this certification from OSHPD. We’ve been working hard to pioneer this effort with modular products. To receive this pre-approval is an important step in providing healthcare solutions that meet the needs of many organizations in California and reflects the hard work of our people here,” said Michael Love, president of Steelcase Health.

Montage is a stackable frame and tile system used in designing modular nurse and reception stations. The unique adaptability of Montage makes it an excellent solution to effectively meet the needs of a variety of users throughout a healthcare facility. Montage’s modular design allows for the user to create the right fit and allows for changes over time. Montage is Cradle-to-Cradle certified and SCS Indoor Advantage™ Indoor Air Quality Certified.

ShareLink 8 is a wall-mounted, ergonomic, computing station. ShareLink 8 is designed to help staff capture, access and share information technology within healthcare facilities — examination rooms, patient rooms, nurses’ stations, surgical facilities, and research labs — wherever precise and secure data is required and recorded. It also features a 24-inch keyboard height adjustment range and one-hand height adjustment activation. A steel CPU cover safeguards hardware from the bumps of mobile equipment. A perforated CPU access door disperses heat to ensure uninterrupted and secure work.

Products from Steelcase Health that earlier received pre-approval from OSHPD:

Opus — There’s no cookie-cutter solution for every room in a hospital or clinic. Steelcase Health recognizes this fact and provides a solution with Opus casegoods — a 2006 Best of NeoCon Gold Award winner — which combine the convenience of traditional freestanding casegoods with the flexibility of modular furniture.

Lab Bench — Flexible and reconfigurable, Steelcase Health’s Lab Bench provides easy access for a mix of lab personnel and the different ways they work.

Universal Storage Bins — Easily store your files over your work station. Bins are SCS Indoor Advantage™ Indoor Air Quality Certified.

Answer — A flexible panel-based organizational system that bridges the gap between office and clinical space. Answer is also Cradle-to-CradleSM certified and SCS Indoor Advantage™ Indoor Air Quality Certified.
