STEELCASE LAUNCHES EXCLUSIVE DESIGNS AT CLERKENWELL DESIGN WEEK 2016
London, 10th May 2016 – Steelcase will provide the architecture and design community with an exclusive opportunity to experience the latest innovations by the Steelcase® and Coalesse® brands by opening its showroom during Clerkenwell Design Week (24 – 26 May).
Increasingly complex and challenging business conditions are causing a seismic shift in how people work today. While employees are increasingly mobile, the office still remains the main destination from which people work from and therefore needs to be designed to support the new ways employees work, and also meet the demands and expectations of highly sought-after workers.
Steelcase is reimagining the workplace and creating places where employees choose to work – not because they have to but because they want to. Both the Steelcase and the Coalesse collections are designed to meet the demands of this ‘Office Renaissance’. The premium designs create an ecosystem of spaces that can evolve over time and support holistic wellbeing including physical, cognitive and emotional needs of workers; enabling employers to compete for the best talent and engage their employees.

Montara650™ Collection
An inspired social solution for today’s mobile workforce, the Montara650 Collection is designed on the values of being simple and refined, infused with comfort and craft. Its sculptured chairs, stools and lounge are paired with simple pedestal tables, uniquely PowerPod ready. Whether a chair, stool, lounge, four legs or sled base; the collection is tailored to the diversified needs of each person and their individual style.
To celebrate the launch of this collection, the designer Manel Molina, from Lievore Altherr Molina’s design studio, will be visiting London, showcasing the products during Clerkenwell Design Week.
Commenting on the collection, Manel Molina says: “The Montara650 collection is a unique addition to the workplace due to its great capacity for customisation. The inspiration for the design came from abstracting the shape of a seated human figure and transforming the chair shape into one that is iconic and transmits a particular personality.”
Massaud Conference Seating
The Coalesse Design Group and renowned designer Jean-Marie Massaud have collaborated to design an array of conference seating that brings forward-thinking design and applied seating science to the diverse places where people meet. The collection balances luxury and utility – no details were overlooked in designing this seating; each form is sculpted and crafted with precision to optimise comfort from the inside out.
LessThanFive™ chair
This lightweight stacking chair was designed by the Hong Kong-based designer Michael Young in collaboration with the Coalesse Design Group. The chair is fabricated entirely from carbon fiber – one of the strongest and lightest materials available – and weighs less than five pounds, as the name suggests. The design supports a variety of users and makes reconfiguring social and collaborative spaces effortless.
The LessThanFive chair will be displayed in a special installation designed by Michael Young: a pendulum which will balance the LessThanFive chair on one side and a 2.2kg weight on the other, to showcase how light the chair truly is.

Brody® WorkLounge
Brody creates a comfortable microenvironment that helps people think better, focus their attention and get into the working flow faster and for longer. Brody WorkLounge thoughtfully integrates ergonomic comfort and personal storage while the adjustable work surface also holds technology at eye level, reducing neck and shoulder strain.
FrameFour™ range
FrameFour, a new range of products including desks, meeting tables and benches, is designed to make workplace transitions practically seamless, providing a consistent ecosystem of spaces for residents, nomads and mobile workers, while accommodating different working modes such as collaboration, socializing, focus and privacy.
