From Classrooms to Collaboration Zones
Mentor Public Schools looked to transform their educational approach by reimagining both teaching methods and learning environments. Supported by a state grant and in collaboration with Steelcase Learning, the district developed a comprehensive facilities upgrade plan. This included renovating classrooms and establishing a new professional development center. The goal was to inspire teachers to adopt new pedagogies that emphasize project-based learning, moving away from traditional content delivery methods.
The outcomes of this initiative have been significant. Teachers now utilize flexible spaces with modern furniture and technology, allowing students to engage in collaborative and individualized learning experiences. This shift has enabled students to develop critical skills such as collaboration, communication and critical thinking, better preparing them for life beyond high school.
