These principles were the lens in which Steelcase adapted agile. They became the foundation for developing new processes and practicing new behaviors.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our customer needs always come first<\/li>\n<li>We value data as a strategic company asset<\/li>\n<li>We are adventurous explorers of innovation<\/li>\n<li>We are global systems thinkers<\/li>\n<li>We succeed as a team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>IT identified three types of teams based on the ways in which IT teams support their customers. These provided ways of understanding the unique needs for each kind of team.<\/p>\n<div class=\"u-shaded u-shaded--light\">\n<p><strong>Agile Team <\/strong><br \/>\nA core team dedicated to one project or product with strong customer engagement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Multi-Project Team<\/strong><br \/>\nThe simultaneous delivery of multiple projects to multiple customers for both project and ongoing work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Discipline Team<\/strong><br \/>\nTechnology specialists with regular deliverables to one primary customer or multiple customers for ongoing work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_420110\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_420110\" class=\"wp-image wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 1024px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-420110 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/steelcase-res.cloudinary.com\/image\/upload\/c_limit,dpr_auto,q_70,h_1024,w_1024\/v1539100376\/www.steelcase.com\/2018\/10\/09\/18-0110807.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" \/><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_420110\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Currently, 10 IT teams are practicing agile and many more are discipline or multi-project. In the future, IT plans to transition more teams to agile, but ultimately will retain some discipline teams.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Over time, IT intends to transition more and more teams, so that the majority are working in agile ways. Although, not every team will practice agile to the full extent, the process isn\u2019t the right fit across the board. All of the teams in IT are, however, beginning to adapt an \u2018agile mindset;\u2019 being more closely connected to their customers, less siloed and sharing knowledge in broad ways in the organization.
