Educators gathered in San Antonio, Texas for the 2017 ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) Conference to engage in hands-on learning and exchange ideas aimed at transforming education. ISTE is a platform for educators and industry experts to connect with the brightest minds in education and inspire one another.

Active learning, the evolution of educating in a way that engages students and integrates technologies, is one of the themes that took center stage at ISTE. Steelcase Education invited two guest speakers to offer their experiences and insights during a session on active learning and share how they incorporate it into their schools and curriculum.

Randy Hall from Lower Hudson Regional Information Center in Harrison, New York and Dr. Julie Marshall from Saluda Trail Middle School in Rock Hill, South Carolina joined Marisa Sergnese from Steelcase Education to talk about strategies, techniques and tips for K-12 active learning programs. Marshall and Hall discussed how to empower students to take ownership of their learning and how to help administrators champion active learning in their districts.

Steelcase Education is dedicated to helping educators like Hall and Marshall create active learning spaces. In addition to hosting the two speakers, Steelcase Education designed and furnished a session room and exhibit space to promote active learning.
