2. Develop Community<\/strong>
\nEnable the forming of student-student and teacher-student relationships to build social skills and sense of belonging.<\/p>\n

3. Nurture Trust by Granting Freedom<\/strong>
\nGive learners opportunities to earn trust and practice agency.<\/p>\n

4. Empower Student Choice + Voice<\/strong>
\nShift the responsibility and pride in learning from the teacher to the student.<\/p>\n

5. Establish Simple Guiding Principles<\/strong>
\nGuide and direct actions with concrete, realistic expectations and boundaries. Limit rules to guiding principles that give direction without over-restriction.<\/p>\n

6. Intentionally Build Habits of Character<\/strong>
\nReinforce desired values and character traits through thoughtfully-designed experiences.<\/p>\n

7. Encourage Reflection + Responsiveness<\/strong>
\nGive educators and students ample opportunity to reflect on the learning process and the ability to make changes to it.<\/p>\n

8. Use Technology, Space + Time as Resources<\/strong>
\nIncrease flexibility by using technology, space, and time situationally instead of as fixed structures that limit learner behavior.<\/p>\n
