Nov. 3, 2010 – School Pride, a brand-new NBC television series showcasing public school renovations, will feature volunteers and educational solutions from Steelcase Inc. (NYSE:SCS), the global furniture manufacturer, in the Friday, November 5 episode. Airing nationally on NBC, the episode will chronicle the makeover from outdated classrooms to classrooms of the future at the Communication and Media Arts High School in Detroit, Mich.
October 18, 2010 – Steelcase Inc. released its 2010 Corporate Sustainability Report today, covering the company’s environmental achievements and benchmarks over the last year. With breakthroughs in sustainable packaging, PVC reductions and environmental education, to name a few, Steelcase continues to improve its products and operations, and to meet goals that coincide with its 100-year anniversary in 2012.
September 16, 2010 – Steelcase announced that Climate Counts, a New Hampshire based non-profit dedicated to fighting global warming, ranked the company first in its industry for combating climate change. Climate Counts uses a 0-to-100 point scale and twenty-two separate criteria to score and rank companies to determine how their corporate climate responsibility compares to sector competitors.
June 14, 2010 – The Steelcase cobi® chair with leather upholstery has received level™ 3 certification, the highest level of achievement possible in the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer’s Association (BIFMA) e3 certification program. The Steelcase Think® chair was the first product in the world to achieve level 3 certification and now Steelcase adds to this accomplishment with the cobi chair.
Steelcase Receives Five Best Of NeoCon Awards At NeoCon 2010

June 14, 2010 – Steelcase Inc. announced today that FrameOne, a new benching system based on insights from a global research project is being introduced at NeoCon 2010, the World’s Trade Fair for Interior Design and Facilities Management. Steelcase researchers identified four very different types of bench users with distinct needs that require different product solutions. A key finding of the research is that the “one size fits all” approach to benching that’s been typical in the U.S. can compromise worker efficiency and satisfaction. FrameOne was designed to support these diverse worker needs, while using space efficiently.

May 21, 2010 – Steelcase Inc. announced that cobi, a chair designed for a new mode of collaborative work, will be featured in the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum's fourth exhibition in the National Design Triennial series this spring. "Why Design Now?" will be on view from May 14, 2010, through Jan. 9, 2011, and will explore the work of designers addressing human and environmental problems across many fields of design from architecture and product design to fashion, graphics, new media and landscape design.
May 12, 2010 – Steelcase Inc. announced today that all seventeen of its active solid colors and seven wood grain 3mm and 1mm edge bands are PVC-free on twelve of its systems furniture product lines.The product lines where PVC-free edge banding is now standard include: c:scape®, media:scape®, Universal Worksurfaces (including knife-edge tops), Universal Storage, Duo™, i2i® tablet arm chairs, Elective Elements® 6, Details® AdjusTables, Kick®, Currency®, Groupwork®, Jenny® tables and tablet arm chairs. Additionally, Steelcase offers PVC-free power solutions for its Answer®, Montage®, Tour™, EE6 and c:scape® products.
May 6, 2010 – Steelcase Inc. today announced it is the host site for the Council for Education and Facilities Planners International 2010 Midwest Great Lakes Regional Conference. Titled “Relearning Learning = Relearning²”, the goal of the two-day conference is to highlight the changing face of learning, demonstrating what learning environments need to be and how to work within them.
May 6, 2010 – Steelcase Inc. announces today that it was the recipient of the Green Achievement Award from the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) at its annual Circle of Excellence Awards, hosted by its New York chapter. The awards program recognizes individual talent, corporate initiative and significant accomplishments within the design and furnishings community.
May 3, 2010 – Steelcase Inc. announces today that it was the recipient of a bronze award from the Edison Best New Product Awards, an annual competition that recognizes innovation in the spirit of American inventor Thomas Alva Edison. The Edison Awards recognizes Workspring (www.workspring.com), a high-performance collaborative retreat in the heart of Chicago, in the Living, Working & Learning Environments category.
March 31, 2010 – Steelcase Inc. today announced the appointment of Connie K. Duckworth to its board of directors. Ms. Duckworth founded ARZU, Inc. in 2003 and serves pro bono as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. The appointment took place on March 29, 2010.
March 15, 2010 – Steelcase Inc. today introduced Campfire, a collection of products designed by Turnstone and inspired by people’s everyday life. Campfire interprets favorite indoor and outdoor spaces for the office, creating a comfortable, vibrant work environment.
January 20, 2010 – Steelcase Inc., a global office environments manufacturer whose products help individuals collaborate and work more effectively and organizations use space more efficiently, announced that the Chicago Athenaeum of Architecture and Design has awarded several of its products with a Good Design® award. Products awarded were Elective Elements 6 New Solutions, Campfire Big Lamp, QiVi, Denizen, Emu Ivy and Emu Heaven.
January 8, 2010 – Steelcase Inc. announced their donation to Friends of TOMS, a non-profit organization that provides shoes to children in impoverished areas. The donation was provided following a contest in which three teams were awarded a Steelcase Walkstation® Fitness Office, a height adjustable workstation with built-in treadmill, to compete in a two-week long walk-a-thon for needy children.
